Julian is Finally Free!
Dear Julian, Stella & family,
We can’t be more elated that Julian is free and in the arms of loving family! His freedom - thus your family’s freedom - is a dream come true; a best gift of a lifetime for all of us. It was long fought for and won by millions.
Our collective photos & videos on this site represent some of our actions for Julian in the San Francisco Bay Area. We’re one of the first U.S. groups of Assange supporters, independently founded and funded, always, in order to keep it pure in our mission to free Julian. My husband built our website to serve as a landing pad for supporters our group was meeting in our street actions.
We’ve held events, vigils, protests, and more for Julian’s freedom these past many years. We listed and promoted our own events and others in the Bay Area. We attempted to wake and inspire people and groups to participate in actions large and small.
We coordinated with other groups & individuals nationally & internationally, and with organizations like CodePink, Veterans for Peace, and others. Our shared solidarity created a larger effect for Julian’s freedom. However, BayAction2FreeAssange stood uniquely, explicitly, and exclusively for Julian as a group and mission. We also helped other individuals and groups get started. We can never thank everyone enough for all the support, collaboration, unity, and friendship. We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to SomersetBean.com for all the years of his gorgeous, powerful graphics, which he provided - literally to the whole world - for free!
We also became part of a global collaboration of activists who found and encouraged each other, built and worked together. We became close friends, learned from, supported, and mentored each other as individuals and groups - long before larger formal orgs formed. We did our best to work with them also.
Promotion to the world of collaboration of FreeAssange events came consistently -long before & after larger formal organizations existed - via Alex Hills in NZ. Alex is an activist, organizer, violinist extraordinaire. She posted many of our events, along with her own and hundreds of others - from nearly every continent - on @Candles4Assange on Twitter/X. This was integral in showing actions and force as a global movement. Together, our underground network lit up & trended Julian on Twitter/X and other social media to wake the world.
Our strong personal network of people globally - from a wide range of cultural & political backgrounds - united in our mission for Julian and resisted everything slung at us from outside and within. We, along with all of humanity, endured some of the most rapid, ugly changes in human History. But our awareness, activism, tenacity, and endurance evolved from Julian himself, his work, and WikiLeaks. Julian, your ripple created the tidal wave that will save us all.
Your case and our fight over these years woke up millions as to what is actually happening in our world. Videos of you speaking sustained us in hope for a better future.
Although it must have felt very lonely, you were never alone; we have been with you every step of the way. Millions of people were (and still are) thinking of you and your family and acting for your freedom in ways large and small every day. You are a part of our hearts, and a part of our lives and families. Our children stood with us in protests for you and your family through the years.
Please know that we understand you need time. Take all that you need without any pressure or expectation. You have done more than most can do in lifetimes, and you have paid more of a price to do so than anyone can even imagine. What happened to you is an absurd, crushing tragedy; thus we will continue to fight for your pardon and look forward to actual justice & compensation to you. But you don’t owe anyone anything - you stood up and paid dearly for our collective future. Now it is time to heal and enjoy your life and your family. That is the best gift you could give yourself, your family, and the world. Each one of us shares in the peace of knowing you’re free, healing, and living your life. We will love to hear your voice again, yet you needn’t feel pressure to speak another word.
